News Update
In June and July of 2014 audiences from around Auckland saw The Fox on the Fairway, a play written by Ken Ludwig, on stage at the Dolphin Theatre. It was to be Carl Drake's first full length production and he worked tirelessly to produce a show that would excite and delight audiences.
This laugh out loud farce was a big hit with the Dolphin Theatre's audience members and went on to win a number of awards including Best Production 2014 at the Dolphin Theatre Awards.
Bingham, president of the Quail Valley Country Club, is in a difficult position, less by finding out that his newly hired hand, Justin, is in love with Louise, the waitress at the club house, but by the discovery that the golfer he thought would play for his club has switched sides recruited by his counterpart and opponent, the cocky and arrogant Dickie, and the huge bet he had foolishly wagered is now likely to be lost.
Fortunately, he discovers that Justin is actually quite a good golfer and finagles his nomination. Justin does not disappoint and has a huge lead, when close to its end the tournament is interrupted by bad weather.
When Justin learns that Louise has lost the engagement ring he gave her - she accidentally flushed it down the toilet - he comes unglued.
The game resumes the next day, but Justin loses the lead, and, upset, takes an unfortunate swing breaking his arm. Bingham is desperate, and the appearance of his wife complicates the matter, as she catches him much too close to Pamela, his sex-starved vice-president. Can Bingham find a replacement for Justin to win the game, win the wager, and get his life in order?
Tim Skinner
Tim Skinner as Bingham
Tim’s acting background is in musical theatre. The pinnacle of his career so far has been as ‘The Purser’, in AMT’s ‘Anything Goes’ at The Civic in 2012. Since then a busy life has meant that he has only had time for one play, ‘The Winter’s Tale’ at The Ellerslie Stables Theatre, where he played Autolycus. As rehearsals have progressed, it has become increasingly clear that Bingham is frighteningly similar in character to Tim. Hopefully by the end of the play you will have some sympathy for both Bingham and for Tim’s family.
Donna Verey

Auckland appearances include 'Steaming' for Harlequin Theatre, 'The Memory of Water' at Company Theatre & several roles for Shoreside Theatre's annual outdoor Shakespeare. Recently appeared in the Ellerslie Theatre One Act Play season in 2013, in 'Les Liasons Dangerous' in 2012 and 'Blithe Spirit' in 2011.
